Hello beautiful! Welcome to Gorgeous Life Blog. If you are new here, check out my elegance program for women. I help women create extraordinary lives with modern elegance and I can’t wait to help you! Today I’m going to talk about what it means to be a modern goddess.
If you’ve read my blog before you might already know that I am obsessed with Greek mythology. My 9th grade English teacher made us read The Odyssey in class as a group and my life was forever changed from that story.
It wasn’t until a couple of years ago when we were all in quarantine that I started studying mythology and reading all of the books that I could get my hands on.
I immersed myself into the stories and myths of the immortal gods and I realized that these didn’t necessarily have to be myths. That Goddesses can exist in real life. I realized that I could be a modern (and mortal) version of these beings in the present day. I realized that any woman could be a modern goddess.
What is a Goddess?
A Goddess by definition, is a woman whose great charm or beauty arouses adoration.
I love the idea of being beautiful, but one thing I’ve learned on my elegance journey is that outward appearance has almost nothing to do with the person you are on the inside.
Rather than focusing mostly on beauty, elegance has taught me to focus more on charm.
What does it mean to be charming?
Charming by definition is extremely pleasing or delightful.
That is what I want to be in my life. I want to be a delightful person that is extremely pleasing to be around. Someone who possesses a spellbinding energy and brings out the best in other people.
A modern Goddess is someone who is not only beautiful on the outside, but a delightful person on the inside. Here are a few characteristics of a modern goddess.
A modern goddess is a woman who has healed.
We have all experienced trauma and heartbreak in our lives. Some experience the most trauma in childhood. Some have suffered through insurmountable loss in their lives, some are currently recovering from a traumatic experience.
A woman who is embodying a modern goddess is either currently healing from her trauma or has already healed, moved on, and made peace with the events that have happened in the past.
The reason why healing is the number one characteristic of a modern goddess in my opinion is because women who aren’t healed carry their trauma with them and it has devastating effects on their lives.
Sometimes it effects in ways that aren’t obvious, some women suffer in silence and put on a mask in front of others. Some women end up passing their trauma to their children via their parenting styles. Some women end up choosing partners that aren’t healthy for them because of unhealed wounds.
I could go on forever about this topic. My point is that healing is so important. Not just for women trying to level up their lives, it’s important for everyone. We all go through traumatic things, but it’s up to you how you handle it moving forward.
A modern goddess is a woman who is kind.
I can’t stress this enough, kindness is so important. In a world full of hate, darkness and evil, kindness is nothing short of everything
You never know the types of things that people are struggling with behind closed doors. Everyone is battling demons, everyone is trying to live the best life that they possibly can.
There are always going to be people who will try to bring you down. There will always be negative, hateful people.
The best thing that you can do is to not become one of those people. Be kind in everything that you do. If someone is intentionally trying to hurt you, kill them with kindness.
Being kind will activate a beautiful energy around you that will have people gravitating to you, trusting you, and loving you.
A modern goddess is a woman who knows her strengths.
In Greek mythology each Goddess rules over something specific. What I learned from this is that there is no need to try and be perfect at everything. If we all have different strengths, why not just master our own and help each other?
It seems like women are always in competition with one another. In reality the only woman you should ever be in competition with is yourself. If you are working towards leveling up your life and becoming a modern goddess, you should work on mastering the things you are good at.
I am great at homemaking. I love keeping my house running smoothly. Over the years I have become better at it and fallen in love with turning my house into a home.
I will continue to focus on my strengths. I want to get better and better. Once I feel like I’ve mastered something, only then will I move on to something else. Know your strengths and become stronger each day.
A modern Goddess honors her body.
Can we all agree that it is very hard to be a woman with a body? Everywhere you go you are being judged on your weight, your shape, your scars, stretch marks etc.
I remember when I was growing up I was body shamed and bullied for being too skinny. Even when I was in my 20’s I would always get comments on how I needed to eat more. It is absolutely disgusting how people feel that they have the right to openly comment on your body.
Now that I’m older, I realized that people make these comments because they have absolutely no knowledge of basic etiquette, and they are struggling internally with something. Their internal struggle hasn’t been healed, so they project it onto others.
A modern Goddess doesn’t worry about what other people think of her body. She doesn’t blindly follow body trends that are set by society. She honors her body. She takes care of her body. She knows her body is a work of art and should be treated as such. She takes time to work out, eat well and prioritizes her health as well.
Goddesses don’t have to be a being of myth.
Any woman can become a goddess. In fact, now is the best time to elevate your life and start living like a modern goddess. We have so many resources available that will help us create the highest version of our lives. It’s time to unlock your goddess energy?
