Change your life: 5 signs it’s time for a major change.

How do you know when it’s time to change your life? You haven’t hit a rock bottom yet, but you aren’t happy. You are’t thriving. In fact, you are barely living. Over the years you have slowly lost touch with yourself and what you want out of life.

Three years ago I was struggling through a very hard time in life. Now that I have overcome some of my biggest struggles and created a life that I love, I teach women how to do the same in my Life of your Dreams course.

Since I’ve changed my life, I’m able to look back and see what in the heck was happening to me during that time and all the obvious signs that I ignored in my early 20’s.

Here are 5 signs that it’s time to change your life…

There is no balance in your life.

You are stuck in this vicious cycle of going to work and coming home to do chores and take care of your responsibilities.

You don’t do much outside of this routine and because of it, you feel uninspired and exhausted. It’s like you are stuck on the hamster wheel and you have no idea how to get off.

Your job has completely taken over your life. You don’t have time to see your friends, you are always spending your weekends or time off catching up on all of the things that you are unable to do because of work, and you feel like you are missing out on life’s beautiful moments.

You know that there’s a whole world out there that you want to explore, but you just can’t figure out how to get your hands on it. Because of this, you lose excitement for even the little things in life.

When your life doesn’t have a healthy balance of work and play, it can have devastating affects on your overall health and well being.

2. Your relationships are suffering

You don’t see your friends very much, you don’t even talk to them as much as you know you should. You pop onto social media to see what everyone else is up to, but you don’t feel truly connected to many people at all these days.

When you do talk to your friends, you find that you never have good news to tell them, you know that you are always complaining about your problems and how unhappy you are.

When it comes to your friends you might

  • Become distant from them
  • Feel jealousy if they are living their best life and you aren’t
  • Secretly Hoping that your friends are unhappy

You might not be as happy in your relationship with your significant other.

  • You don’t spend that much time together
  • You’re always fighting
  • Your needs aren’t being met and you aren’t able to meet your spouses needs.

    3. Social media becomes a toxic place

    There’s no question that social media can make people feel jealous of what other people are doing. In my course, I go into detail on how to turn social media into more of a healthy place.

    Over the years, numerous studies have shown that people become more insecure with both their life and their physical appearance.

    You don’t want to be that person, but somehow you find yourself scrolling online seeing all of the things the world has to offer wondering why you haven’t gotten in on the action. 

    Why haven’t you traveled to your dream location? Why didn’t your wedding look like that? Why can’t you buy a new car?

    This is normal because we are human, but just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it is okay. It’s one of the major signs that it’s time to change your life.

    4. You become stressed out and you don’t know what to do

    Sure there are happy moments here and there, and surely things could be worse. But overall you are unhappy with everything that is going on (or lack thereof) and you just want things to change.

    Because you are not fulfilled with your life, you become stressed. You start experiencing low energy, motivation, and lack of drive in all aspects of your life.

    This is what happened to me. I remember being chronically unhappy. It was terrible. I felt like I was going to be stuck in this life forever and I was scared of that. There was not light at the end of the tunnel for me.

    I eventually started experiencing some pretty major anxiety attacks. I ended up going to the doctor. It was then that I realized that my unhappiness was contributing to health issues.

    5. You are existing, not living

    I can say this from experience because I spent many years just existing. Of course I was happy I guess. Nothing tragic happened to me during that time and I had a roof over my head and food to eat, but that’s just existing. I wasn’t LIVING, or THRIVING. 

    If you aren’t waking up in the morning happy to start another day, that is a problem. If you don’t have anything to look forward to in the not so distant future, it’s time to make achange.
