4th of July week recap
To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to the 4th this year as much as I have in previous years. This was because I didn’t book a vacation like usual. You see, last year we spent the 4th at Myrtle Beach in a beautiful condo with ocean views. We watched fireworks on the sand at the ocean front and it was absolutely amazing. This year, I was just too busy and busy with other things to book a trip. So when the 4th came, I was kind of dreading it. I didn’t really want to spend the holidays at home.
Despite my doubts, we ended up having an amazing time! Here’s a quick little recap.
I spent time at one of my favorite places-the pool. I love swimming and we had some dangerously hot weather at the beginning of the week. The water was the perfect temperature and I always feel like I had a good workout after a couple days in the pool.
I saw some awesome fireworks.
We tried watching fireworks here before, but we were in a terrible spot and our view wasn’t that great. We were super disappointed and didn’t want to watch fireworks at all this year. But I figured I shouldn’t ruin it for my kids. We got a wicked storm in the afternoon and I was worried that they would cancel fireworks for the area. Luckily, the weather cleared up by nightfall and it all worked out. So we decided to look for a place we could go and watch without getting out of the car. By this time, the ground was soaked and borderline flooded from the intense storm, so I wasn’t in the mood to sit outside.
We were able to somehow find the perfect firework spot! The girls wore their jammies and brought their blankets and we watched the show from the car. And much to my surprise-they were amazing!
My wedding dress is done!
This was such a surprise! I knew it was almost time for my dress to be complete, but I never got an estimated date from the designer. So I was soo excited when she sent me the pics. If you don’t know, I had my wedding dress custom made just for me by a designer in New Jersey. You can read all about that process here!
I did a history themed photo shoot that I have been dying to do!
Ever since I visited Harpers Ferry, West Virginia for the first time, I knew I would be coming back multiple times. The town is perfect for history lovers like myself and I did a wonderful then and now shoot!! Check that out here!
I went hiking
If you haven’t read my previous post How to find adventures in your back yard, you really should check it out. I have been finding so much peace by being out in nature. We did another hike as a family. Nothing too serious just an hour or so. But my goodness its so relaxing!!
