My Oral Hygiene Routine

Oral Hygiene Routine

Recently I have incorporated a bunch of new products into my oral hygiene routine that I figured I would share with you.
I have always been obsessed with beautiful, white teeth. In recent years, I have been changing up my dental routine. I’ve been trying different toothpastes to see which one was the best for my teeth. I’ve been purchasing new gadgets for dental health. And I think that I have finally settled on a permanent routine with products that I love. I figured I would share these with you, because I love discovering new products that others have been loving.
Flossing.

Okay at the end of the day, I like to floss my teeth first. I feel like brushing the teeth is the last step in my whole routine. I love to use Oral B Glide Pro Health floss. I love the way it smells and it is easy for me to use.
Flossing your teeth prevents the nasty plaque buildup that can eventually cause teeth to decay.
I also carry little floss picks in my purse so I can floss if I need to while I’m out. I always try to stay prepared wherever I am.

Waterpik

About 6 months ago, I purchased a Waterpik water flosser and I absolutely love it. The water flosser does not replace traditional flossing, but it really helps to clean the areas close to the gums. I have the. It is easy to use and comes with several different attachments for different types of use. It is pretty loud but that is the only complaint that I have. It is recommended to use the waterpik once a day, I use mine a couple times per week. Whenever I feel like I need to.
Brushing.

Okay so its finally time to brush now. I use a toothbrush from the dollar store. I haven’t felt the need to splurge on an expensive toothbrush. My daughter has this really awesome power brush from oral b. She likes it a lot and she got it for better cleaning with her braces. My dollar store toothbrushes are doing just fine for me.
I also use interdental brushes to really clean my teeth. They are super tiny brushes that can get closer than your toothbrush which is much larger.

Toothpaste

After lots of experimenting with different toothpaste brands, I love Crest 3D White the best. I think it is because I am obsessed with white teeth, so anything that promotes it is right up my alley.

Whitening

Another reason why I use the 3D White toothpaste is because I use the Crest WhiteStrips for whitening. I have used this product since I was in high school and it never fails to deliver excellent results at such a great price. I recently purchased a pack of 10 for only $18. Now whitening is only supposed to be done I believe once per year so after these 10 strips, my teeth will be noticeably white for a long time if I take care of them.

I did discuss having professional whitening done at the dentist, but their prices were much too high. I feel like I have always been satisfied with the results from Crest, and there was no need to spend hundreds of dollars for almost the same results.
An important tip with whitening is that if you are planning to whiten, you should know that whitening breaks down the enamel of your teeth and makes them stain easily. So if you drink coffee and dark soft drinks, those drinks will seriously stain your teeth after you whiten them and they will actually look worse than they did before the treatment. This happened to me the very first time I tried it when I was a teenager. Since then, I stopped drinking dark soft drinks all together. If you aren’t ready to ditch your soda, the dentists recommended that I drink things from a straw to prevent contact with my teeth.

After I remove the whitestrips, I brush my teeth again. This helps remove all the whitening goo and make my teeth look amazing.
That concludes my dental hygiene routine. I have always wanted to try a silicone toothbrush and have toyed with the idea of purchasing one, and If I do, I will definitely share my experience with you. They look really cool and most important…easy to keep clean. Toothbrushes give me anxiety because it is rumored that they contain SO many germs. This is also why I get my toothbrushes from the dollar store. Because when I feel like my toothbrush is too dirty I just toss it and get a new one.

Are there any awesome dental products I should know about? Let me know because I am always open to trying new things!
