Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt

Glow in the dark Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is almost here! And in case you haven’t hears, Glow in the dark Easter Egg hunts are all the rage. I’ve been doing it for 3 or 4 years now and it doesn’t get old. I remember doing egg hunts as a kid. It was always a good time, but we never had glow in the dark hunts. It just wasn’t a thing back then.
The first year I tried it, I used glow sticks. I though it would work perfectly. But the glow sticks wouldn’t cooperate and the would prevent the eggs from closing.
I was able to find lights at Michaels that are perfect for Egg hunts. They are super bright and last for years. I’ve been using the ones I have for 4 years.
They are submersible lights that are made for home décor which makes them a bit pricey, and I swear the price has gone up since I first started purchasing them. I Purchase a new pack every year so the hunt gets bigger as they get older. They are normally $20 per pack, but Michaels gives killer coupons, and I was able to get this years pack for $10. Not too hateful considering how happy it makes the kids.
What you should know about these lights is that they can be a little big once placed inside an egg. I recommend getting the bigger sized eggs for these if you are also planning to stuff them with candy. This ensures that the candy will fit. I do have a bit of the smaller eggs too, and I usually put quarters in those or gold dollar coins.

I like to add lots of different things in my eggs. Some of the eggs have cash, some have candy, some have trinkets, and some have prize tickets. I use the prize tickets for the gifts that are too large to fit in the eggs. Instead of giving my kids an Easter basket filled with stuff, they get all of their gifts once they trade in their prize tickets.

It does take a few minutes to turn each of the lights on and off before and after the hunt, but other than that, it’s a lovely idea that the kids look forward to every year.
