My capsule makeup collection

10 Minute Makeup Routine,+ The exact products in my Capsule Makeup Collection

I can honestly say that I don’t love makeup. Yes it is fun and does make me feel pretty sometimes, but I do find it a bit of a hassle sometimes.
I used to buy makeup all the time. I would just go to MAC for no reason and buy an eye shadow just because I liked the color. It was out of control, honestly. I remember I used to listen to music and do my makeup with my girlfriends before going out, I always had some new products.
Now that I’m in my 30’s, things are much different. I see purchasing makeup a hassle because it takes time to shade match, and I’m always worried it is going to irritate/break out my skin. I do find listening to music and doing my makeup quite relaxing thought, and I have got my makeup routine down to a science. And thank goodness for that, because a full face of makeup can be rather intimidating.
I decided to make a graphic sharing my favorite makeup. These are my ride or die products, the products that I have been using for years and years. They are mostly drugstore products. I also included high end options that are on my beauty wish list. I hope that I get to try all of this makeup this year. But each product listed is either my absolute favorite, or a favorite in the beauty community.

Face.

Foundation: L’oreal True Match liquid Foundation.

I used to use MAC foundation, but I don’t have a MAC counter near me and I didn’t feel like traveling an hour to shade match (I change colors a lot in the summer) So I switched to a Drugstore foundation and never looked back. I love this foundation. It gives great coverage, stays on all day, and never broke out my skin. I’ve been using it for years and love it!

Wish List Foundation: Georgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.

I have wanted to try this forever. I know I am going to purchase it sometime this uear, in time for my wedding for sure. Sarah Brock used this foundation on Gal Gadot for Wonder Woman, so of course, I’m sold.

Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind concealer.

I love this little guy. It has a soft fuzzy applicator and it comes in a twist tube that is super convenient in my opinion. It doesn’t sit in the creases of my eyes or anything. It blends well and is very light, but with good coverage

Wish List Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape concealer
I have never tried this concealer, but it is definitely the number one most talked about in the beauty community. It has glowing reviews and everyone seems to love it, I wouldn’t mind giving it a try one day.

Contour and Highlight: Nyx Contour and highlight stick is the perfect cream contour from the drugstore.

Wish List Contour:Fenty Beauty Contour Stick. I haven’t tried anything from Fenty Beauty yet, but I have heard nothing but glowing reviews about the brand, so I’m sure I will be in good hands. I’ll pick it up sometime before my wedding.

Wish List Highlight: Tarte Diamond highlighter. This highlighter is infused with real crushed diamond powder and light reflecting pearls. It looks amazing and I really want to try it.

Blush: BH Cosmetics Blush Palette. I have had this palette for SO long! I got it for under 10 bucks during a black Friday sale and it is truly an amazing palette. I even bought one for my friend because I wanted to share the love. I use it every single day. It also has a nice contour color as well.

Wish List Blush: Too Faced Blush. I think the packaging is what draws me to this blush. Anything heart shaped is right up my alley. It would be nice to have this blush but I am definitely satisfied with the BH.

Mascara: I’ve been using Maybelline Falsies Mascarafor ever. It is great for length and volume
Wish List Mascara: Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara. I’ve never tried this Mascara but I have heard great things about It. I would love to try it one day to see if it is better than the Maybelline
Eye Liner: Revlon Liquid eyeliner. It is easy to apply and is very bold. I’ve been using it for years and years.

NYX Jumbo eye pencil, Milk. This is the perfect white eyeliner when you want to make your eyes appear larger. It is super affordable and super bright!
Wish List Eyeliner: Kat Von D Eyeliner. Another brand that I hear a lot about but haven’t tried is Kat Von D’s Products. I heard that her eyeliner is some of the best out there so I wouldn’t mind adding this to my collection.

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Palette. I don’t have a drugstore shadow palette that I use. I think anyone building a makeup collection should invest in a good neutral makeup palette. They last forever and you can create so many looks with them. I’ve been using the Naked palette for years. A must have for anyone for sure.
Lip Gloss: I am absolutely in LOVE with the Laura Gellar Color Luster Hi-Def Lip Gloss in Diamond Dust. This is the PERFECT lip gloss, I promise. It doesn’t tingle or dry out your lips, it isn’t too sticky or thick, but it is so sparkly and pearlescent. I came across it at Ulta one day and had to have it.

I use these makeup products every day. And I have found that together they make an awesome capsule makeup collection that can I can use to create the perfect look for any occasion. What are your favorite makeup products? Are any of them on this list?

What’s in my capsule makeup collection

I have had a pretty small makeup collection for years now, and I didn’t realize that minimalism was an actual thing. So, I realized that I totally have a capsule makeup collection and I want to share it with you!
It pretty much consists of all of the drugstore products you see in the graphic above, but there are a couple more items that I have added!

I have purchased some high end makeup for my Wedding, so my capsule makeup collection has been updated for the first time in a long time! Read all about my Wedding here!

FOUNDATION
I know I have wanted to try the Armani foundation, but I actually got my hands on the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation recently.
I went to ulta looking for products to use on myself for my wedding day. I was looking for a matte foundation that would stay put all day since my wedding is going to be outdoors. I got a sample of this stuff, took it home and immediately fell in LOVE. you guys this stuff is so amazing! Great coverage, feels good on the face, and stayed put for a long time. I haven’t purchased the full size yet because my skin color changes so much in the summer that I want to wait a little bit closer to the wedding, but this will be my go-to foundation for now. I was unable to try the Armani foundation because there aren’t any stores near me that carry it and I really need to sample a cosmetic product before I spend that much money on it. The Estee Lauder foundation retails for $42. In my opinion it is worth every penny.

CONCEALER
I gave in and picked up the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer! I’m so excited to use it on my wedding day!

EYESHADOW
I swear by Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes! I have NAKED 1, 2, and 3. I have had these palettes for years and I use them all of the time. I have never felt the need to purchase any other eyeshadow palettes because I usually just wear natural colors or a smokey eye. But having all 3 of them really came in handy when I started testing out my wedding makeup look because I was able to achieve the eye shadow look using these palettes! I can’t wait until I can share my wedding makeup routine with you. I am doing it all myself and it looks so amazing! Will update this post in 6 weeks once the wedding is over so check back here in a bit!

HIGHLIGHT
Originally I was using a highlighter from Victoria’s Secret. I bought it years ago for like $20 and it’s just gorgeous. Very pigmented, stays put. One day, I dripped it and it all broke. Now it is just this crumbled up powder that I can’t store with the rest of my makeup because it will spill and get everything dirty. So I decided to grab the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow kit for the wedding! For $42 I got 4 gorgeous colors. I’m sure I will have this palette for years to come.

EYELINER
Finally got the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and it’s just as amazing as I thought it would be!

LIPSTICK
I always keep one bold red lipstick on me, because red lips are stunning. So I have a gorgeous one by Smashbox. I don’t wear it very often, but when I do, I’m obsessed.

I’m so happy with my updated makeup collection. As a mom, I have to admit that I have been neglecting myself in the makeup department for a long time. I spend so much time with the kids at home that I haven’t felt the need to spend money on high end products and for years I have been using drugstore products. The products I use are amazing, don’t get me wrong, but I feel so much better having new stuff. And honestly, it’s for my wedding. I totally deserve it. I will be able to create so many different makeup looks with this and it didn’t break the bank.
